Several months ago I designed a series of pieces with sea glass with non-traditional applications.  I came up with the following pieces: I will go into details on those pieces next week. Until then you should check out my pieces and the creations of other artist in the Summer 2015 Creative Spark Magazine The post From Under the Sea appeared first on Clay Space | Contemporary Clay Creations.

Hunger Games Challenge: District 11

The Hunger Games Challenge continues with the next District, Number 11. Albeit one of the poorer Districts of the 13, but it also has two of the main supporting characters for the movie, Rue and Thresh.  I think everyone s heart broke a little bit with the death of Rue during the first Hunger Games. Hearing this, District 12 feels like some kind of safe haven. Of course, people keel over from starvation all the time, but I can t imagine the peacekeepers murdering a simple-minded child. ―Katniss All you have to do to join in the Hunger Games Challenge fun is to design and/or make something that is related to District 11.  On the last Saturday of the month (August 19th) come back to my blog and post a link to your creation.  I will share it on all of my social media outlets.

42.00 USDCopper Metal Clay Face. Mixed Metal Full Moon Pendant. Asymmetrical Necklace. Chunky Steampunk Necklace. Bronze Metal and Geode Beaded Necklace. One of my personal favorite things about autumn is the night sky. With the sun setting earlier and the air getting colder there is no better time to get my 12" telescope and admire the sky. About once every four years, it occurs in October in the northern hemisphere, and it happened this year. The pendant on this piece was inspired by some face molds that I had hanging around but have never used. The face is made out of copper metal clay. I then hand cut and hammered a german silver circle, soldered some brass rivets to it from Vintaj. I of course set the face off center because the face on the moon is off center and if you wanted to take a step further it kind of mimics a cr

Why I meditate (and how you can learn, too)

I used to think that meditation was for buddhist monks or new (or old) age hippies.  I envisioned it as an extreme, you now the vegan eating and vow of silence type of extreme.  I then discovered my new doctor who told me I should try meditation; heck she had already convince me to see an acupuncturist and I will still in pain.  What did I have to lose? I signed up for a 6 week course with a local meditation teacher, Michelle.  I did the class and while I felt great in the class, it didn t really stick.  Once I left I just didn t have time, and even worse once I was done with the class I didn t know where to go or what to do anymore. I felt lost so I dropped it. Then, give it 2 months and I realized for some reason that mediation had improved my life.  You are probably thinking to yourself, what is meditation?   Putting space between your thoughts. Acknowledging that they exist and then letting them go. That s it.  One of the most profound things my meditation teacher told m
